You cannot register these plates and there is no possible way to do so haha, these plates are simply for looks or the "jdm" style but they are not even actual japanese license plates, zero function. Most people just put them in place of their front license plate and never the rear b/c then you'd indefinately be pulled over and that is why their usually called decorative. Imo i would call it "ricey" as would many others but to each there own. If you like it go for it and purchase them from sites such as http://www.eautoworks.com/html/aac-A...nse~Plates.htm

I always thought these looked awesome, and if you were able to actually register them here in US I'd buy some. And as far as other peoples opinions, it's really what you like man. If you build your car trying to impress people on a forum you're being unfair to yourself :p

They are pretty neat, but hes been stopped a few times for having them so I wouldn't be suprised if he put "real" ones back on.

Here there are plenty of normal people driving cars that appear to be from Europe, intact with tags. There are a few VDub drivers with them too, but those cars have US plates also (they're US cars, modified, driven by younger guys usually).

Cars from other countries with the plates go through a lot more, but can wear those plates legally and registered.

US license plates are property of the state. You can't just chose your own from wherever or make it yourself and register it.

As everyone has said, those are just aftermarket plates. You can buy real ones, but they could be a little more effort to find and cost more money. There are also light up plates, but I don't know their story.
