Default 99 prelude puts at idle any ideas

i got a 99 prelude car starts right up idles fine when cold but when it warms up putts out the exhaust any ideas thanks...

does it idle below 1000 rpm to where the oil light flickers?

car should idle below 1000 normally at around 800. Sputtering or "putting" I think is poor combustion. I noticed if i retard my timing too much it sputter's aswell.

My mind tells me to check ignition timing first. Check spark plugs too, see if your detonating.

Ofcourse a sound clip would help huge. I figure its just the typical sputtering though

well the car idles at 800rpm no blinking oil light and my cel light is on now and the code is p0302 cylinder 2 missfire thats the only code ... the car has new plugs and wires what else could it be and what should fix the problem...

Make sure that there is no "dust" inside the distrib. cover. If there is a grey or black dust, clean the cover and rotor bug thoroughly. It is carbon and will short the spark. You get all kinds of idle and acceleration problems with this and it will often show up as a cylinder misfire.

Also - check compression, all cylinders should be reasonably close together (maybe 10-15% between highest lowest) and all should be above 110 psi or so, I believe.

May also be spark gap on that plug or a bad injector. If money is tight, swap injector to different cylinder and see if problem moves.
