Default 97 H22 prelude RETARDED CAM TIMING ??

ok i have a 1997 honda prelude, H22 with the tip-troic shifter, KN filter, DC headers, othe tthen tha stock and mint,

BUT i bought car with all underdox pulleys and ame cam gears,te previes oner has

CAM GEARS at 2 point retarded , { meaning am gears are set to 2 retarded, what does that do ??? GOOD OR BAD ??

My H22 is set at 2 cam retard what does that mean ? cam gears ar set to 2 retarded. both of them, whats are pros and cons etc ?

Hmm, what motor? If it's the stock H22a4, they would have had to modify to an OBD1 distributor to use adjustable cam gears. And not sure why they would have retarded both cams unless there were problems with the motor... Is there anything to tune the motor with (VAFC, eManage, Hondata)? If not, I would probably suggest returning to 0,0 and see how it runs if you're worried about it.

generally cams set bot retarted is good for top end but will loose some low end....
but if this motor has had the cams out then ur not sure how they installed,,, the adj cam gears could be compensating for something
try 0.0 and see how it runs,,,,,, get some form of tunning done and have ths cams set on the dyno

yea some tuning would be nice, and you just named all three of the absolutly worst possible ways to tune it. emanage isnt bad, so ill take that one back, but vafc... hondata...
peopel using either of the two should be shot

Other than being "Retarded" adjustable cam gears are al but pointless on a stock motor.
