Second hand 94 Integra gas problem
Hi all brothers, I have a quick question about my car...
I just bought a second hand car in Canada and it is 94 integra LS with GSR engine. (B18C1)
I have a 2001 corolla before and it is gas saver.
When I start driving the Integra, I find that it consumes gas so much...
one tank of gas can only run around 350 ~ 400 KM....Is it normal for a Integra GSR engine "eat" that much gas?????
This is my details of my car ....all brother please take a look and answer my question.

Have any suggestion ???
Thank you everyone...
By the way, what kind of gas do you guys use for a b18c1 engine???
I use Esso Surpreme...but it is winter now...I think I will use the middle class one...Also...I need to open the heat BECAUSE here is so cold right now in Canada...
Is it related too?

I'm going to guess that the engine needs to be tuned. The ad mentioned a Skunk2 intake manifold and CTR cams. What ECU is in the car? If it's a stock GS-R P72 ECU, then that is completely wrong for that engine setup. It probably needs something like a P28 ECU, reprogrammed for those mods, with the VTEC crossover point moved up to the proper point, somewhere above 5000 rpm, to go along with the single-runner S2 manifold.
So yeah, that is most likely the cause of your poor fuel economy.
To compare, my stock GS-R engine/tranny with over 430,000 km averages around 520-560 km per tank, but I have driven as many as 650 km on a single tank of fuel.
*edit* also, was the engine converted to run OBD1 to match the car, or was the car converted to OBD2 to match the engine?

I am sorry bros....I don't know much about car....so should I take my car to somewhere garage and check the tuning of engine and report to them those things?

Well first you need to see what ECU you have. Pull the passenger side kick panel trim off (right below the glovebox, to the right) and it should have something stamped on it. P72 or P28 or something else.
To have it tuned you'll need to go to a shop that can do that, which means they need to have a chassis dynamometer, and preferably knowledgeable with Hondas.

I doubt a Honda dealer would be able to do anything for you, unless it is one of the few that are more "performance" oriented. Most of those guys at Honda dealers probably wouldn't even know where to start on a 94 LS with a '00 GS-R engine. There are a few that might, but I've never seen any dealer with an in-house dyno before.
Well...I may go to Calgary to find some Honda Specialist to retune my engine...actually my friend has helped me to tune the rpm or engine before...he said to me that the car was run slow ....not like a gsr motor...and he can't even hear the engagement of vtec sound when it ran over 5~6 rpm...after he tune it, the car go faster than before....is it related???
hey everybody...I got my car fixed...here is the details of the replacement...

After get fixed....the engine check light on after I run my car couple minutes later...though, when I turn off the key....and turn on my car again...the engine light off.....same thing happened....then I go back to the garage and check...the mechanic said that "The check engine light is for Electronic load detection and knock the knock is most likely bad gas and the ELD is because of wiring."
can it be fixed???

ummm does that say you had a P06 ECU that you traded in for a P72 ECU? Well that means you had a 1.6L non-VTEC Civic ECU before, and now you have a B18C1 GS-R ECU.
But it still has that Skunk2 manifold, right? I'd be willing to bet that CEL is because it's not seeing the intake air bypass valve that the stock GS-R intake manifold has.
You really need a chipped P28 ECU that will work with that Skunk2 manifold, and have the car tuned to run with those CTR camshafts.

Yes the p72 will be fine as long as its obd1..You can tune them the same as a p28...Your car should be getting better mpg with those switches, that ecu was not the right one for you car before...the only thing Im wondering is why is throwing ELD code..is the wiring all pluged in or was it hacked?
well everybody...I fixed the ELD CODE...I have replaced a new knock sensor, and the wire had connected between the ecu and sensor...before,,they are not connected. The KM per tank is getting better....it's around 450 now....

So it isi OBD2 RIGHT???so should I use p28 ecu??
I am pretty sure your running an OBD1 ECU which is fine for a 2000 motor.
