I have a B18a1 that had the ignition pack burn up inside the dizzy.
not that uncommon for 190,000 on the motor.
Before full burn out, it had trouble sending spark.
Also the terminals and electrode would become covered in carbon frequently.
I cleaned them every week, and it finally gave out with the burn up.

I had just bought an obd1 distributor and matched the wires.
I installed it but im still not getting spark. I pulled it off and the ignition pack is warm,
so its working. But the spark isn't being distributed to the rotor which is still cold to
the touch.

Since i had a obd0 dizzy, the pin was a blunt and went inside the coil pack.
The obd1 has a strange spring which i am not familiar with.

My Hypothesis:
obd0 ECU does not compensate
spark isn't being sent to cap to be sent to rotor
or cap is messed up

i dont have the time and cash to carelessly spend,
but if you have/had any experience with this, i will gladly hear from you.
