only reason im thinking of changing the tire size is because i need new tires anyways. i don't wanna go with aftermarket wheels cuz too many ppl been getting thier parts jacked and even the oem aluminum wheels have been getting stolen lately.

Why wider? It won't get you any additional traction. Better tires would, though.

On a side note, I understand the desire. My weekend car sits on 155/80-13s, and OMFG are they skinny...

If you need new tires anyway, I would get 195/60-14 rather than 205/60-14.

thats part of it. i definately understand wider is not gonna = more traction unless its a better tire. my corvette has 315's and on crappy tires would light em up at 60 mph but when i got better ones they would barely light up past 20-30 mph

reason for going with 205/60/14 is its the closest to the oe size in overall height and all, i found a few tires in that size that appear to have a good rating and all and ppl seem to be happy with

The 195/60-14 is about as close, and is a better choice to prevent rubbing because it is slightly smaller than stock (0.9 percent smaller) rather than slightly larger than stock (1.1 percent larger). It also provides better acceleration.

The best 14" tires all come in 195/60-14, including the best supersticky tires (Falken Azenis RT-615), the best summer tires (Yokohama ES100), and the best all-season tires (Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position). The Azenis is not available in 205/60, although the other two are.

thanks for the info....actually just got back from getting the tires and ended up with the pole positions in the 195/60/14 and decided on those due to the ratings as an all season tire and because they are slightly smaller overall. the guy at the tire store happened to have the 205 set up but had to roll his fenders when he lowered the car.

his car was pretty slammed though and my car is stock right now but gonna be lowering about 1.75" when im off on the holidays
