Icon2 Push Button Start?

I am putting a push button start on my 91 crx si and i was wondering what you guys thought about it? I know it may be a waste of time but i think it would be pretty cool. What do you think?

Where did you buy your push button start equipment? I'm thinking about installing one myself, but the only kind I could find were ebay ones.

Does anyone know if the ebay push button starters require a remote signal? Or can anyone just break into the car, hit the button, start the engine, and drive away?

I got my button from autozone, along with my relay and switch. I dont know about the ebay one but i know that mine anyone could jump in and start it but they wouldnt get anywhere because they have to have the key to unlock the steering wheel.

lol, Really? With enough force you can easily break the locking mechanism in the wheel.

My car had it when I bought it. real pain, I took it off. hard to find in the night, it was a small kill switch type thing. It was one of those interuptors (how do you spell that<-) you have to hold down routed through a relay and the ingnition

Any write ups or install guides?

I have a different KEY for start vs key for body... so I'm interested.

i had installed one for a friend. i used an s2000 button. a relay from bosch which is more reliable.

it looks really cool. the button lights up and looks really oem. its not rice nor a burrito so dont worry about others calling it that.

my ignition switch went out in my HF, couldn't find a new one local, just wired an Ignited up to the starter directly, works like a charm. Not the best for security, but the car's hardly on the street.

how do you set it up so the key still shuts the car off i have a bad ignition switch that will turn on all the electronics but wont turn the starter and think that this will be a cheaper solution than buying a new one

On your ignition lock switch there is a bundle of about ~6 wires if memory serves me correctly. The black with white stripe wire is the one that runs the starter solenoid. If you cut this wire and run a wire directly to your starter solenoid that will fix your problem with the lock cylinder. On my CRX HF I had the wire under the dash either fry or melt itself to a all time hot, so I cut the black with white wire before it entered the fuse box, ran a wire from the wire to the starter with a crimped end on it, havent had a problem with it yet.

i have this same problem. i have what it seems to be a short from my ignition to my starter. a friend of my had the same problem a a shop charged him $400 to fix it. i said the hell with that so i have a about 1ft of 10gauge wire. i put my keeys in then pop the hood, touch the started and then the postive of my battery and viola car turns on. it's ghetto yeah but why do i want to shell out $400 when the car only cost $300? plus i'm about to take it off the road to start preping it up for my build..
