Default What to expect with a shell?

This has been pondering my mind for some odd weeks. I've been playing out roles on how the direction will pan out, but decided to ask for more 'direction' from you fellas.

I've never messed with a shell before so I'm curious to ask some questions from those that have. I'm going along the lines of a 92-00 Civic hatch rolling shell.

At the moment, I have 3 directions on the motor.

1 - D16Y8
2 - D16Z6
3 - B18B1

I'm leaning far more towards the LS motor. If I'm lucky, I'll cop a B16 tranny to go with it. I don't plan on building it, just keeping it the way it is. So any plans of higher power is out the window.

So to jump down to my question, what am I expecting when buying a shell? What walls will I face, or have to face? Any tips when buying a shell? Harness problems? Etc. Any input is great, thanks.

there's no real way to answer this. but here's a shot. expect to replace things. what things i can't say because i don't know what shell you are going to buy and therefore will not be able to vouch for its condition or any other shell you might be considering for that matter.

when looking for a shell..I would want a rigid shell..straight! make sure its been in no ridiculous accidents...frame damage is a no no, just more money for you to waste. thats the main concern i would think of when buying a shell. I would like all the body panels to be on their...matching paint...etc. Rolling would be a plus so its easier to transport...and as for power plant..i would go with the LS since you would have more room to advance in mods. LS-V....LS-T etc. (just my opinion) hope this help make your choices a bit easier.
