Default RoadRage Detail: BMW 840ci Detailed!!! (TONS OF PICS)

Hey guys its been a little while. Starting your own business while juggling two full time jobs gets in the way of the internet time lol. A couple weeks ago I did a detail on a BMW 840 and I had it professionally shot in several locations for promotional material. She was quite a mess before I got started on her, though. The before pictures make me cringe even now.

Before:

A Few Location shots:
The car's owner was snapping pictures all day watching the photographer and I get everything PERFECT.

Here's the final spread:

Well the owner is building an new house and didn't have anywhere to store the car. She was in pretty good shape unitl Ike came through. An oak tree fell less than ten feet away from her during the storm. She's lucky that she's not in an insurance scrap yard right now.

Yeah the after pics are truly amazing to me though. Its an amazing car, but even with the good pics, she's even better in person!!!

Nice car, the afters look pretty damn good.

Interested though in a couple things. What was your process and products? I don't see a whole bunch of gear, did you polish it out? Sealant?

Also what the hell is that thing suction-cupped to the hood? It looks like some kind of strange tripod.

Thanks for the kind words.

The detailing process I use is pretty straight forward and simple. Washing/claybarring/etc. aside, on this car I used a Makita rotary buffer, five different pads, I've got three compounds, two polishes, a final glaze and a wax that went on this car. The magic touch was 3M's dark color final glaze and my super soft black glazing pad. I have an orbital buffer but I only use it to apply waxes and sealants. It makes a little product go a long way, and saves me a lot of time because I don't have to wax by hand.

I use mostly Lake Country pads, Hi Temp compounds, Optimum's polish, a few things from 3M, some nice stuff I've picked up from vendors, and blah blah blah

The long pole with suction cups was for the camera rig. I spent a day and a half on that car and didn't have time to snap pictures of the detailing processes that the car went through, that's why we got so many pictures of it when I was done.
