Default Raged my Ef

Well today I was working and lost my keys so in a heated rage. I grabbed a screw driver out of my tool belt and broke the igntion. Stupid i know. I never stoel a car or started a car like that before I just knew thats how you could start it. So I get it started drive it home and now I cant restart the car. Well I dont want my car to look all ghetto so i want to replace the igntion. How do i go about doin so I tried searching couldnt find much.
Is there a trick to starting the car it has something that turns in the middle and another lever u push over on the right side ne Sequnce of makin it start? Intill its replaced.

Remove the connector from the back side of the lock cylinder. You can turn the switch using your key or a flathead.

If you're talking about how to remove the housing from the steering column, you have to remove the shear bolts which are mounting it on. You can try slotting the bolt and removing it with a flathead or cutting the bolt off.

Do they still able to do this? I didn't think the honda would make a key. What about the door lock cylinders?

Door lock cylinders should be the same as your ignition, no? Every Honda I've owned has used the same keys.

When I tried to get a key cut from my VIN they said their records only went back to 91 IIRC. Whatever year it was 88 was too old. =C

You're right, but I bought an passenger side door and the cylinder dont match. So I was wondering if I could buy one to match my vin number.

what if its a aftermarket ignition cyl?

get ahold of a locksmith and they will remake you a key.
but you couldnt do that...broke the ignition cyl.

and i've never done a lock cyl, so im not sure if you need the key to remove the cylinder.
go to the local parts store, get a cylinder and a haynes manual.

btw try to get a spare key made and put it in that key magnet box and stuff it somewhere where you can get to it under your car

good point, i probably should have put that if it's the original ignition then go to honda and get a key cut. and how you know that it is the original is that the key works with the doors and hatch also.

Honda can and will cut keys off the VIN number as long as you have proof of ownership of the vehicle. This was done for my 94 Accord. The original key was so worn down it would barely turn the ignition and you had to wiggle the key. Had a new key cut off the VIN and it worked perfectly.

Obviously you would know if it's the original key if it's got the Honda plastic piece still on it and the plastic is black. That's usually a dead giveaway. Usually it was only American manufacturers that used different keys for the doors and ignition. Every Honda uses the same key for both.

Instructions are in the service manual. Order a new key cylinder from Honda, it comes with 3 new Honda keys. About $50 bucks.

This is what I had to do, thanks to a$$hole thieves (they didn't get away with the car).
