Default tire rubbing and hitting weld

currently im running 205/45/16 with 45 offset. and im lowered about 2 inches front and back with coilovers. when i make u turns the inner side of the tire hits the sidewall and eats away my tire. ALSO when i make hard left/right turns the pinch weld(metal piece right above the tire that sticks out) hits the tire dead on and shaves my tread away. any suggestions without raising my car??

A friend of mine got a decent sized hammer and belted that seam up flat against the chassis then sprayed it with some primer and paint to stop rust. What car is this on by the way?

My tyres rub on the inner guard/chassis on full lock turns. I just ignore it.

Yes, you have to get an angle grinder/cutting wheel and cut that body seam in a couple sections and hammer it flat, as chargeR said.

Sounds like you're running incorrectly sized tires and possibly wheels with the wrong offset.

The specific car isn't mentioned, but every Honda I've seen will put the UCA into the shock tower about the same time the tire will contact that seam (mine certainly does, dented shock towers too).

Is this a pre-96 Civic? If so, you should be using 205/40-16s.

If you're rubbing before full lock, then you probably have the wrong offset wheels on the car. Lowered to flushed rims and the mud flaps touching the ground, I can still turn the steering wheel lock to lock with the stock wheels (which I miss, damn thieves), but can't do so with my 16x7 5Zigens since the offset is incorrect (they rub).

That tire size should work on your car. It's more likely the offset that's causing the problem, or possibly the offset in combination with the lowering. Just lowering the car 2 inches probably wouldn't cause rubbing all by itself.

raise your car up a half inch or an inch. 3 inches is a pretty big drop. This is why you said earlier that your ride is bumpy, its caused by the shocks bottoming out every time you hit a bump.

This is Louis btw, the dude from subway.

Ur tires might just be too big for ur car and/or your fenders might not be original .....i have a 99 ex coupe dropped on just coil over springs and on the side of my original fender it doesnt rub and on the aftermarket side it does
