Default Gas gauge no longer works?

Is there anything I can do to fix this? I'm sick of judging by my odometer. At a full tank, the gas gauge will sit in between 1/2 and 1/4th. But it'll randomly drop down to under E, and I'll still have 3/4ths of a tank left.

What exactly is wrong? How can I fix it?

You will want to check both the fuel sender unit and the gas gauge itself. The FSU is in the gas tank. What year and model of Civic?
