Icon6 Why wont my car STAY 'started'

Ok, heres the deal.

Had the following symptoms.

Driving home from FT. Myers over the weekend on I-4 the dash board 'flickered' while the gauges shot from zero to my current speed and back rapidly. It did this for a few seconds, then resumed normal operation.

Today, I drove up to Walgreens from work and returned to start my car to no avail.

I can start the car, it gets up, and runs, I can let the clutch out, and as long as I were to leave the key turned forward, the car would run fine dash lights, sunroof, windows and all. But as soon as I let the key back it dies and there is no sunroof, windows, or dash lights.

Main relay? Bad contact somewhere? What do you all think?

Thanks,
Jonesy

My car, 1995 VTEC is having the following problems

So basically a new ignition switch eh? Does it come with keys?

/noobish feeling

Plus I would go back and look for myself, but I'm on the worlds slowest dialup, and that site keeps timing out now.

It's just an electrical switch not the locking mechanism.

I just replaced the same thing. Its a piece of plastic with electrical connections that goes inside the ignition. I believe its part #110691.

Like pirate said: You don't need the keyed cylinder, you just need the "switch". It is just the electrical part that has gone bad. If you get the whole thing You will have two separate keys for your car unless you have the cylinder rekeyed. Unless you have been having trouble with your key turning I would suggest only getting the electrical part better known as the "switch".
