The '94 Accord 4dr EX still retained the rear seat fold-down function. The entire rear seat back folded down as one piece. In fact both the '94 and the '97EX and LX share the same setup. Refer:

1994 EX 4dr: http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...R+SEAT+%282%29

1997 EX 4dr: http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...R+SEAT+%282%29

1997 LX/SE 4dr: http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...R+SEAT+%282%29

So where's the confusion? It looks like Honda used one rear seat fold down mechanism for all models thru out the Generation.... It looks to be no more complicated than fitting the '94 leathers on the '97 frames (unless I'm missing something)

yup you are. on both of my 1997's i can reach small things in the trunk without dropping my rear seats, everything bolted in fine. when flipping the arm rest down,

the eather seats do not have the black lockable flip down section but a block ff plater

I personally have not seen the trunk access you're referring to in any of the 96/97 Accords I've fooled with. I have seen them in the 94/95.

Your best bet is to try to source a leather version and just swap the top half as they're the same other than that access. I wouldn't cut through to try to make one.

I have both sedan and coupe

Neither of mine have the access

I think it's more a 94/95 vs 96/97 or maybe it was an option?

Well muffinman, you are correct, http://consumerguideauto.howstuffwor...nda-accord.htm "year to year changes" it says, "...Also, the trunk opening has been enlarged on the coupe and sedan and a rear-seat pass-through feature was added" So there's your answer.
Although mine is also a 96 EX coupe, I don't have a passthrough or a center armrest. I think it was only for the sedans.

so not all accords have this? huh i thought it would be more common.

seats are froma 94 sedan.

my old auto 97 i used for parts that i had since new had it, and so did my 97 sedan EX.

it is a black lockable flip down.

i bought the rear leathers for $20. so i don't mind cutting them up for my black acsess. that has been proven useful hundreds of times over the years

Haha it's not just a cali thing. My guess is it's an option or something. Neither one of my cars have it. I know exactly what you're referring to, it makes an armrest of sorts with a plastic panel behind it you can fold down to access a narrow hole through the seat to the trunk.

I just haven't seen it on any Accords other than my friend's 95

Default crazy shiet

yeah, haha..i always thought it was the other way around. i never saw them in the 94-95 but always saw them in the 96-97. i was thinking of cutting into my 95 accord ex rear seat to do the same, but actually just fit a 2000 accord rear seat in it cuz i got it cheap (tan leather). YEAH IT FITS!! only thing is i had to keep the side peices (shoulder pads i guess) but swapped out the middle section. just unbolted the old one and replaced it. another thing is when you close the seat, there is about a 1-2 cm gap between the seat and back dash. doesn't bother me tho cuz i don't have anything back there to fall through the crack and no one really looks there. plus if u have a dark tint u won't even see it from da outside. also im thinking of cutting through the rear dash to use the middle seat belt harness from the 2000 accord too. but i dunno yet. just not right now. to much going on in my life. looks nice tho, and the middle arm rest has cup holders.
