As you read from my topic I want to black out my tail lights how can this be done? I heard paint and tint I like the tint idea but to do so what percent should I go with? Any help anyone?
Is it even legal to do this? You may want to check with your local popo first.
I would think that it would be a royal pain to spend the time doing it. Then ending up paying for it in the end with a ticket. Even if you don't get pulled over or given a ticket. If someone hits you from behind all they have to say is that they didn't see your brake lights. As soon as an investigator at the scene sees the modified lenses on your tails, your F#@k'd.
Just a heads up...It's your choice, just make sure that whatever you use that the people driving behind you are able to see your brakes well during the day and night.

Just finished reading a good DIY on taillight tinting but he didn't tint the brake light lenses. He used VHT Nightshades (transparent black tailight paint) Part #SP-999 to cover the ambers and reverse lenses.

Give it a read.....they look good, even with the reds not tinted.

At the shop I worked for in CA we used some clear coat and added a couple drops of Black paint to get the shade right.. Sprayed the tail lights/head lights with it , then wet sanded and buffed.. Comes out like glass and will never turn dull..Doing it this way, you can tint them as much or as little as you desire. Hope that helps
I am only familiar with tint spray in a can, here in Japan it is not legal but only gets dinged during a two year safety inspection. I finally noticed that ladies fingernail polish remover took the stuff right off, easy and quick.
After you check with your local laws, I would also suggest that you pick up a spare set of light assys just in case you are going to travel somewhere that may not allow this, out of state cops are always looking to pick on the out of state plated cars, oh, and you have illegally tinted taillights too, sorry man, your busted.

i think the easiest thing to do is to use the tint film. i was thinking something really light like 75% but no more than 50%. u see, 75% is like a dull grey almost clear, where 50% is a bit darker. especially on a red lenses, this would look even darker. and if u have any trouble just peel da sucka off. then u have stock again. if u paint em then it might be a little bit of trouble taking em off. there are alot of diy video on youtube and googling it on how to do it. just just like tinting your windows.
