I am just wondering if there is a way to make an obd2 engine harness into an obd1 harness. I am going to be re-looming the harness and shortening wires as it is so if i can convert the harness from obd2 to obd1 i would prefer to do that then try and find/buy an obd1 harness.
I searched and i could not find an answer to this question. All the threads in the faqs were based on swapping an obd1 engine/harness into an obd2 car, not the reverse. The dizzy i have is obd1, the ecu i have is obd1, but the harness that came with my new engine is obd2 and the motor is an h22a4. It is being swapped into a 4th gen with an obd1 engine harness.

Umm i said i am using an obd1 dizzy but the harness is obd2. I just wanted to see if i can convert the obd2 harness to obd1. Does someone have the pin diagrams of both so i could see the differences?
Do you have the old H23 harness Adam? It will work fine for you if you do. If not, I am sure the wiring info is out there, and at worst case, a good weather weekend I can shoot up to Edmonton in my car and we can compare it all.

No the old h23 harness was an auto harness so i tossed it. If i remember correctly you have to wire vtec into the h23 harnesses. If weather permits and you feel like driving up here be my guest
I really don't want to buy another harness. If i can use the existing one i have then i will be much happier.

Not what i was asking but i know you can do it that way. What i am asking is what are the actual differences between the two harnesses. Their pinouts have to be different some how and i can't see them being that different. If i can just un-pin a few wires or just have to move some around in the connectors i would prefer to do that then have to buy a new obd1 harness. does that make sense? I was just curious if someone knew anything about this.

I remember that now. I vaguely remember it though. I thought he was just doing an engine harness wire tuck and mixed a wire up or something. I did not realize he used an obd2 harness and converted it to an obd1 harness. I remember reading for weeks about nothing but electical issues.

lol i don't have a obd1 harness. I was given a free obd2 harness. I just wanted to see if it was even possible to convert it. If you say thats what blake did and it was that big of a hassle than i am just going to say **** that and i'll look for an obd1 harness.
So I can use a OBD1 Harness, without any modifications on my BB6? I am running an H22A, and I had to modify the harness by routing the CKP in the OBD1 Dizzy. If it is possible to use a OBD1 harness, I would have used it in the first place.
