Just picked up an HX and have read about the problems with the tranny. Mine sort of does the shutter/hesitation thing when cold. However, once warm it seems to go away. I read that there is a service bulletin on this. I can even find the number, but can't read it for free. Is there a place to get the bulletin for free?

Does anyone know if the CVT will act funny if the thermostat is sticking? When driving the car, it seemed to be stuck open - always ran REALLY cool. However, when I sit and let it idle the temp was normal.

I have a 2000 hx and it had the CVT as well. Mine always shuttered really bad and I could never get my rpms above 3,000...

I reccomend getting rid of CVT if you can. If not, the tranny should work (not 100%) for a while though..

 

if i were you i would just try flushing and refilling with cvt fluid..
i work at honda so i have access to bulletins and recalls and for your make and model (for the cvt) all i see is a bulletin for : surging, hesitation when accelerating, knocking noise
: it says to replace the start clutch, start clutch control solenoid and the CTM.
i dont think you want to get into all that
