91 accord
hi i have the chance to buy a 91 honda accord ex 2 door with the automatic trans and 171000 miles on it for 1900 but ik where i wrecked 5 speed is i want to do the swap if i get it about how long do u think it will take with at 2 hours a day
ok the accord is in great shape i want to do a 5 speed swap out of a 92 accord that is wrecked and put a h22a in the car the car has 171000 is that worth buying for $1988 it is a 2 door
The trans swap should`nt be a problem if the donor trans is in good shape and you know what your doing. A friend would be a good helping hand for a few steps of the swap.
2,000 for a car with 170,XXX on it is a little steep it seems but I dont have a clue to what condition the car is in currently. Maintenance records? Body of the car in good condition? Paint is good?, no chiping or clear coat pealing? Good looking motor? Motor "sounds" and seems to be ok? Is the car modded? Old or young previous Driver? Weather conditions on where the car is from?
There is ALOT that goes into buying a car if you care and are looking for the best deal. Think and inspect all these things. The last thing you want is to get stuck with a lemon, lol.

About 14 hours if it's just the Tranny swap*
About 18 Hours if it's the Tranny / Engine swap**
That's assuming you have a lift, an air compressor and any required special tools.
Why so much time?
Because, not only are you disassembling two cars, but you're assembling one as well.
You can't forget the console, shifter, shifter control cables, pedal hangers, Clutch Master cylinder and all it's plumbing. Among other stuff that escapes me just now....
If I were attempting something like this (and the '91 was drivable), I'd refresh the H22, install a new clutch of choice, mate the trans to it and install them as a unit.
That way, you'd have unfettered access to the engine compartment to run all the ancelary support stuff like swap harnesses etc.
The only thing I'd suggest: mark absolutely EVERYTHING.
