Default 99 Civic EX considering trade

This may be considered the wrong forum for this but I just would like to get some opinions.

I have a 99 civic ex hatch (167k, auto, needs paint, dent removal, mostly stock) and I want to trade for hatch back.

I found someone, possibly, with a 94 hatch (137k miles, manual, prolly needs paint, seems mostly stock)

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/932563921.html

Is this a fair trade?

well in terms of bluebook. no it is not worth it. But, is it worth it to you? Do you prefer the the eh or the ek? I have had two eh's and a em1. And I enjoy my eh alot more. Actually traded my em1 for an eh3. So if you don't mind the drop in value (of course ins will be cheaper so thats a +) then go for it. Just be sure to check the car over and over.

Thanks for the advice What are some things I should be looking for, other than the obvious, with the eh?

Basically, you would check the same things that you would check when you buy an ek. Get up in the fenderwells and check them out. They start to rust from the inside out usually. Check the engine bay for any fresh fluids(leaking).

Get underneath of the car and check to see if you see any leaks, or an attempt to fix a leak (i.e. JB Weld on the tranny case or oil pan). Check the axles, if they are covered in oil, this might indicate a leaky seal.

Of course checking the car out in a parking lot will be hard to decipher some of these. But, if you check it out and feel good about it then go for it. If you keep doubting yourself and questioning yourself if its a good idea, then maybe stay away.

Dont do it. Even though your auto, car aint bad at all. Sell and take left over moneys for the hatch.

No way... D15B8 is like 70HP. I wouldn't trade anything for a D15B8. Now, if you want to do a swap after getting the hatch, then I would do the trade, but only with cash on top of the trade.
