Default tie rod ends

how do i kno the tie rod ends are bad cus i just bought a crx and the guy gave me a new stearing rack and tie rod ends and said there drivabal but need to be replaced and i took the wheel off and they didnt have any play well the one i looked at didnt

Put the car in the air, and grab the wheel at 9 and 3. Move it back and forth. IF there is ANY MOVEMENT change it. You could also just grab the tie rod end and try and move it. If there is any play in the joint, time for a replacement!

If you're unsure, I say just go ahead and replace them. Outer tie rod ends don't cost that much, and they come with brand new ball joints and boots. IMHO it's piece of mind. I love it every time I replace an old worn out part with a brand new OEM part (well except for the money I have to pay ). I know the quality is there, and it will last a long time.
