Default Insurance Rate for a New Bike?

Hey guys, i've been curious for a while at how much insurance will be (on average) for a 22 year old guy that wants to buy a new bike w/full coverage. Im assuming somewhere in the 150-300$ a month range....if I could get some insight on what i should be looking to pay would be great! Also, if you could reccomend some insurers to me, that would be great as well. The bike will be a 600cc THanks!

-Jeff

Thats to broad of a question alot goes into that driving record, location, insurance company. My suggestion would be just go on progressive or geico and get quotes.

I live in socal and have a brand new bike with full coverage with AAA and only pay 50$ a month with 2 speeding tickets on my record. Also, I'm 21.

agreed. everything matters, you should literally go to every company in the area and get quotes. only takes like 10 minutes for a quote anyway. and take MSF, insurance rates decrease if you do. if you have a bad driving record, then i would say don't even bother cuz bike insurance can be rediculous.

cuz online, im getting some ridiculous numbers haha. I have a clean record and will be taking MSF for sure. Even though it is till a "rough" estimate, $3700 a year doesnt sound right to me hahaha. I guess its better for me to go and actually talk to an agent. But yes, thank you guys for the insight. I just wanted a ball park figure of what some guys are paying. Thanks!

You have your Prelude as your primary vehicle and have the bike as a leisure vehicle right and anually you drive as little as possible? I did the same thing with my bike and i was paying $30 a month, 22 years old, living in socal, no tickets or accidcents.

Well yeah, I cant have the motorcycle as primary unless I have had my license for like 3 years or something. I said it was my leisure but it was my DD for 6 months. I said I would put like 2k a year and have done more than 3x that in the 6 months I have had it.

Umm not really.. My 08 CBR 1000rr is about that maybe a few more. Full coverage with 250 deduc

Also state farm. It is way way way cheaper than my truck's full coverage. IMHO its a 10K dollar bike compared to a 30K truck. So it better be cheap as hell... my truck is about 1K a year I think or maybe a tad more. ALSO the cbr is insured more or less as my 2nd vehicle as well which lowers the rate and I claim it as a pleasure vehicle.

They estimate that there's probably a 50-50 chance you'll total this bike in the first year you own it. You might want to get something a bit more beginner friendly if this is your first bike, and see if that drops your insurance quote a bit.
