painting high beam bulbs...need help
im thinking about buying yellow headlight spray and painting the high beam bulbs in my 96 integra and my wifes 04 em2. has anybody done this? the fog is really bad here and i hear that yellow light illuminates better in the fog. any input is good. thanx
im not sure why you would drive in the fog with your high beams on... alot of people have the misconception that the more light they have will illuminate the road better but its actually the opposite, especially for the high beam pattern where light it suppose to be more concentrated.
what happens when you have more light or intensity is that you'll get glareback due to the water molecules in the air... so the last thing you want is to actually reflect so much light off the fog that it creates too much glare.
the reason why yellow is usually better during fog, rain, snow etc is because its easier on the eyes... not that it penetrates better... its just easier for you to see in bad precipitation because the light doesnt cause as much glare as say a blue/white light would.
and not only that but foglights have a different function and beam pattern. their goal is to illuminate the foreground, while high beams are meant for putting light at a distance or further ahead.
so i wouldnt suggest painting your high beam bulbs yellow because it wont help you.
not only that but yellow bulbs that come from a manufacturer are specially coated bulbs. you can probably get the same effect but you'll severely diminish light output by just spray painting them, not only that but its just going to end up cracking the paint and possibly destroying the bulbs anyways.
like i said in the other thread, i meant to delete the high beam part. ppl told me they painted the bulb itself and it worked but i guess it was all BS.
thank you for your help tho
