Default ls/vtec on 94+ teg

I like the shape of the 94+ Integras, and i like the inside of them also.
I want to buy a gsr but they're too expensive.

So i was thinking would it be wise to buy a LS and than put a vtec head on it.
can i put a b16 head on a b18 block.

if not. how much do the head cost for the gsr

u will make somewhere in the area of a gs-r maybe a little bit more.....depends on how u go about it, i.e. head, cams, etc

u could run high 14's wiht yoru basic lsvtec setup

lets say that i get a b16 head for a stock LS.

both stock head/block. what is the rough hp.

and what else do i need to make it work.
like do i need to mess with the oil lines, or do i need a different ecu.

or do i just slap the head on, with the old ls IM and good to go ??

after all is said and done, you will have probably spent more to build a frankenstien motor than to just go out and buy a 94-95 gsr.

save your cash and the headaches that come with ls/vtec, IMHO.

Just 'slappin' a GSR or B16 head on a LS block .... even if it's assembled properly (new vtec oil pump... right HG, lines, fittings, ecu... blah, blah...) will still be pointless as you will still have that low 9.2:1 compression... you prolly will ALMOST match a GSR's power.... if at all. A good LSVT that everyone talks about will require higher compression pistons, closer to the 10:1 of a geezer to make good power... plus the LS tranny, as mentioned b4, is not really good for all motor as the gear ratios are too tall.

B16 head: cheep, easier to find, better intake mani design for high revs.... but lowers compression .2, lower compression. (less Hp)

B18 head: not as cheep, dual runner intake mani, not the best for high revs, but good for street, dual springs on the intake valves and will raise compression (mnre Hp)

A GOOD LSVT will cost ABOUT $3k and up $4k with block, higher comp pistons, oil, water pump, seals, lines...etc. For that kind of money, you can get a full GSR engine, rebuilt with ITR pistons, and maybe even balanced.

The choice is yours...

X2

IMO, you'd be better off buying an OBD1 GSR...by the time you spend all that money on the LS, you could have bought the GSR which hauls *** stock...around here, they're hard to find but you can pick one up for probably $9k with decent mileage
