How to Launch???
So i went to race a little last night , and i had an issue. i couldent launch right .. so i was wondering .. where you guys all have your sweetspot ... i tried a little over 4k .. im running on yoko's and like 37psi
with vsa on i usually launch it around 3.5k and dont give it full throttle at first but with vsa on i usually launch it around 2.5-3k anything higher and it will spin all through first and you have to really rev out first so when you hit 2nd it stays in vtec or the car will bog on you

I know these are SI's but these cars don't have that much power and they have limited slip diffs which helps out tremendously. Leave the vsa off. You don't want factory computer intervention. Usually with high horspower low torque cars there is no good way to launch with out slipping the clutch. 3k and agressively let off the clutch and floor it simultaneously. Ten feet of spinning or chirping while getting traction is good, That's what pros do. Watch Motorweek on speed channel.
if u launch about 4k then, befor u actually launch rev to 5 then right befor u start drop down to 4k and it will go harder then if u just held it at 4k, im not quite sure how, my friend explained it to me but i used to smoke alot and as u all know it makes u forget, any way it works and i just kinda floor it every gear after that, only cause i dont have to worry about spinning through 3rd gear, but i get a bark! lol

Turn VSA off, rev up to like 3-4 K and let off the clutch aggresively while flooring first and flat shifting trough 2 to 4 and after that you should be golden and just shift like regular.
idk if si are the same. but my mugen has something like 2step prob just a netural rev limiter but i use that. and careful with second, i broke a torque mount already and the car only has 7k on it

personal take...
ive experimented with all sorts of RPM ranges. from 2K all the way to about 5K.
My personal preference is like 3250 ish and just dumping the clutch..but like the others have said..2nd is a BITCH to catch now. I also screwed the hell outta my 3rd gear and just got it fixed threw the TSB.
With alot of these "launches" it may be best to 'feather' the cluth to get the "picture perfect" launch...its really how you get acquainted with your car and become comfortable/familiar with it..
long story short...for me 3250 and a little feather-ing

Also, leave your tires at the OEM recommended PSI, unless you are running slicks or drag radials. For one, lowering the PSI doesn't help (believe me I've experimented like crazy). And two, many people don't realize that when you turn the VSA off (like you have to do to launch hard) AND lower your PSI too much, the VSA turns on anyway, defeating the purpose of both.
Does the VSA turn on in response to the TPMS indicating that the pres. may be too low? I didn't know that the VSA spontaneously kicked on under those conditions. As you can tell I don't drive that hard too often haha.
