Default CF trunk question

Hey guys,

This might be a retarded question, but if you could give me some insight on this i'd appreciate it.

I have recently been considering installing a CF trunk on my CRX to go along with my CF hood and CF sunroof plug. But someone told me that if I did a CF trunk, i would not be able to put the OEM Glass and that i'd haveta use Plexy-glass.

Is this true?? Because I really don't like Plexy-glass because it scratches easily and all that jazz.

My thoughts were that I could put the OEM glass in there and just upgrade the shocks that support the trunk. Unless the CF isn't strong enough to hold glass or something. Has anyone done this already??

Jon

What they most likely meant is that all the weight saving benefits are lost when you put the oem glass back in. the weight of the hatch is mostly the glass.
so if you want to be lighter, lexan/plexiglass is a must.
If you just want it for the bling factor keep the glass.

but I dont think theres anything wrong with putting glass in there (strength wise), except for being pointless bling.

Ohh alright. Thanks for the quick reply.

Have you seen anyone with a CF trunk with glass instead of plexiglass?

Yes you can reuse the OEM glass with no problem (100% sure about that) but like "grog" said, most of the weight is in the glass not the hatch.

Some companies offer a scratch resistant coating for lexan/ plexiglass that you may be interested in.

Stop grouping Lexan and plexiglass together.
