Default Project prelude

My friend and I have decided to do engine internal work to my car. I plan on bulding it for turbo, so I am going to go with lower compression pistons and such.

Last night we put some low compression pistons from his old 'lude in my car. It doesn't want to start now. did we do something wrong?

mmmm...timing perhaps? What happens when you hit ignition? Does it crank but just doesn't fire up?

It will crank, but not start. are low compression pistons bad or something?

Ok, My dad told me what was wrong. When we took my freinds old h22 stock pistons, and made the for lower compression I gues we did a no no. Is it bad to have holes in your pistons?

What do you mean modifying stock pistons for lower compression?

We drilled 4 small holes in them, but isn't that good? I thought you needed lower compression for turbo?

Also, I dont have a camera, or I would post pics. I might be able to sketch something up real quick tho.

if you drilled into the pistons to make them lower compression that is BAD. Try to sketch up what you did. who told you it was ok to drill the pistons?

omg. I can only hope this is a joke. Step away from your engine immediately and consult a professional. Did you drill all the way through the piston? Sure, you increase the volume but you also just completed ****ED air flow. Take a picture man, that is just flat out dumb.

First time I hear about someone doing this, who did you get advise from? Do you have the turbo ready? cuz without a turbo, lower compression means loss of power, plus you need to tune it too, it's not that simple.

did you not read my post in your last thread? namely this:
modifying cars goes like this:
fast & cheap=not reliable,
cheap and reliable=not fast,
fast and reliable=not cheap.
you just tried the fast and cheap, and now you are finding out why it doesn't work.

So, I take it that we messed up then? Yes, the holes go all the way through. I'd rather not take my engine apart to take pictures, If I dont have to. Even if I took it back apart, I would then have to borrow a camera.Back on topic: Can I fix this or not? I really dont want to take my engine apart.

Answer: go PURCHASE low-compression pistons, rip your engine apart, replace the f*cked pistons with the purchased pistons, and keep the drill away from your car.

purchase FRM compatible pistons, or sleeve the block, don't want him messing things up worse than he already has.

and for future reference, a motor needs some compression to work, putting holes all the way through the piston=no compression. You and your friend need to do a lot more research before you go modifying anything else on your car.

next time just light up a match and burn your money, instead of modifying parts that you don't have the tools or the know how of messing with, that might be easier.
