2009 Honda Accord LX-P
I just found this page today; very good resource.

I am in the market to buy a new car. I was at multiple dealerships yesturday. I hit the Toyota (Camry), Ford (Fusion) and Honda (Accord). Needless to say, I fell in love with the Accord. My issue is getting the best deal possible. Like a true capatilist, I want to take advantage of the bad economy and paying as little as possible for this sweet car.

I plan on financing this car through the dealership. They are offering me 1.9% financing for the first 4 years (or 3 not sure) and 3.9% the final year. The floor manager was willing to sell me the car at "cost" for $20,456. I plan on putting down a $2500 deposit. He computed the numbers on his computer--in front of me--and my payment after all cost would be $379 per month.

I am going to go to another dealership today and see if I can get something better. I am going to see if they are willing to throw in Bluetooth and some mats at the same price as the other dealer offered.

Question: Can I do better?

 

I just bought the 2009 Accord EX. My brother-in-law called the internet fleet managers at several dealers to give competing bids on both the LX-P and EX. Probably due to the economy and gas prices at the time, the Accords are not moving as fast as the Civics and Fits when I was looking.

I got my Accord EX at around costs, the mats are now standard; unless you want all-season mats. I don't think they will throw in much of anything when they are selling at or near costs.

I don't think you can do much better than $20,456 for the LX-P.

 

You are probably right, but it would never hurt to ask. All they can really say is no and I buy the car at "cost" anyways. I really have the impression that they are not selling many of their cars. I live in the San Fancisco Bay area and it seems as if the Toyota Camry is all over the place and not as many Honda Accords. Another thing, the dealer told me he could get me any color I wanted at that price, which tells me that he is not unloading his cars fast.

WHo knows, I am without a vehicle at the time and I am thinking about getting one today.

 

I am also in the SF Bay Area. I was told the dealers have a lot of LX-P in stock and they were not moving as fast as the Civics and Fits. When I was looking, each dealer had one or two EXs in stock. I was able to get the color I wanted for $100 more, when they had to trade with another dealer for the EX I wanted.

 

Cool, where did you buy your car (if you don't mind). I was given my initial quote at the San Francisco dealership, but I live in the east bay, so I am going to check out the Berkeley office.

I have never bought a new car before, If I buy at the SF dealership can I get service done at the Berkeley office?

Any ideas why the LX-P's are not moving?

 

I got my car from San Leandro Honda. Walnut Creek and Dublin were giving similar quotes. But, my family bought from San Leandro Honda many times.

You can get your car serviced at any Honda dealer, or independent shops. I always check for service coupons and dealer service prices, as you will find the dealers are not consistent with the service prices in the Bay Area.

 

The Accords in general are not moving as fast as the Civics and Fits when I was looking. Gas prices were rising until recently (now dropping), so people seem to want the better gas economy.

Not saying the Accords were not selling, just not selling as fast. It seemed like the dealers stocked more LX-Ps than EXs, as they felt more buyers would opt for the LX-P vs the EX due to the price difference of around $2,500. Also, the economy affected a lot of people's buying power.

 

Cool, After I get my political fix this morning, I am going to head to the dealership and see how it goes. I'll post the outcome.

 

Ended up paying $23013 for car. Included Bluetooth. Payments will be $377 per month.

 

Congrats! That's a good price out-the-door with Bluetooth. Enjoy the car. The power and smoothness is something I noticed immediately.

 

Thanks dude. I noticed that this car got a lot of looks when I was driving through Berkeley today. Man, this is a big car. And to think, last week I was planning on getting a Yaris. Then a few days ago I was thinking about a COrolla. Finally I settled on a real man car.

I will be monitoring this site regulary.

 

It is just shocking how much cars cost today.
