Trans diagnosis?
The used 5 speed trans I bought for the auto/manual swap (in my '88 crx DX) turned out to be no good. So now I'm on the prowl for a replacement. I was hoping to find one this weekend, but surprisingly got skunked. However, there is one guy local to me selling an '88 civic DX that doesn't run. I may use that as a donor car.
But the seller said that the trans was hard to shift into second, and had a tendency to "slip" in 3rd.... He's not exactly mechanically inclined so his descriptions are suspect, but the first thing I thought was "bad clutch" until he said the prev owner had replaced the clutch....
Do these symptoms sound like anything other than a bad clutch to anybody? I just want to make sure there are no red flags before I risk installing another bad transmission.

I assume that no replies means that there are no obvious known issues that match these symptoms (aside from the clutch). I guess that's a good thing.
I'm going to go look at the car today. If it looks good enough to part out, I'll probably grab it. Can anybody tell me the high value items that I should be sure to pull/sell?
