I tried the serch function but it's not working.I just put a Y8 head on my Z6 cause the po8 head was warped beyond repair and it was replaced with a Y8(pj2) head.And now I'm having some misfiring issues and hesitation in the lower rmp range.I installed a y8 dizzy cause the z6 would'nt fit.It has a new rotor,cap,plugs and wires.I read somewhere that I would have to use the cam gear of my z6 head is this true?Also the dizzy was used but the ignition module was new.

 

I also read something about modifying the y8 dizzy harness but I'm not to sure what for.

i know that the z6 and y8 have slightly diffrent timing so you have to play with that

 

you have to use the original z6 cam gear, and time it at that.

but then i would just get a z6 head and everything would be easy.

 

it's at 16 with the timing light.but theres something wrong.

Match your cam with its correct gear, y8 with y8 and z6 with z6. If you have a y8 cam and a z6 adjustable cam gear, you need to advance 4.5 degrees. In your situation just make sure that you have a y8 camgear and be done. Then you have the timing to worry about and thats another bag of noodles to get into. Read all of this...especially the last post!!

How about the dizzy does it need to be modified?

 

The differences between the z6 and the y8 distributor harness is the plug. The wires are the same. The z6 has 2 plugs and the y8 has one...So Im not sure what generation civic your workin with, but your goal is to obviously make it so it will plug in. Usually people just swap the plugs by cutting and soldering.

You got it all wrong. When you mismatch cams and heads, you have to have an adjustable cam gear to put it all back in spec. Also the y8 and z6 cams are different. Just match your cam with its correct cam gear and time it correctly. That will get you close since your ecu is going to start messing with the timing...that where having something like an s300 will come into play for you to make timing table to match your needs.

 

are you sure...every thread I have read says different.Also I belive the y8 head that I installed has the y8 cam.

 

Then you good...just make sure you have the y8 camgear and your done.

The timing belt is different on the z6 verses the y8 which are you using?

Which ecu are you using? are you still obd1? z6 harness?

Nevermind on the cam belt I see where you say your using the z6 cam gear..

 

If its an adjustable z6 cam gear then your good since you will be able to advance it 4.5 degrees. If its not an adjustable cam gear then you going to be way off.

 

no I got a stock z6 cam gear.Have you ran this set up before?

 

y8 head on z6 block I always use the y8 cam and y8 gear with y8 belt never had a problem

 

really how many times have you done this?How about the distributor I'm using one out of a d15b7 right now.But yeah the car runs like ****.
