H/f series drag cars
To be as honest as I possibly can, i'll admit that I have punted, not kicked, the idea about going with an f22 non-vtec setup in my integra. Allmotor + nitrous and give some of these "SFWD" classes a try. Then, I thought about the H22.
Oh, and that's with carburetors.
By the way, I probably won't do it. LOL

IMO carbs would be the only way to go with an N/A f setup.
To be honest with you I am not sure... I am either going with a b or d trans setup. I have a cable b trans with 96 GSR internals with a Quaife laying around I may put in. Or I will do with a hydro d trans. Not sure yet. But finding a Final drive for those are easy.

I think the reason you see more B series is because well there are more of them. The B came in more cars, so they got more aftermarket support. People made really good power with them and they hold up. You can rev them, they are lighter than the H, and they didnt have a cable tranny.
That being said, I am running a H series after many years with the B. The H makes gobs of power and torque. I love it. I dont think you can go wrong with either motor.

^^^^ Ah the old the H motor is heavier reason.......Yeap its like what 50-75lbs heavier when both are fully dressed longblocks.....Last time i checked getting some weight on the frontend helps a fwd car
I think its more of a lack of knowledge. Although the same knowledge can be applied to both motors but people like the easy route. Read some my build threads and base there setups off others. Hints why you can go to events and half the people you meet and talk to are actually car clueless to the issues there cars having while at the event.
why?
when you can make more power going with Fuel Injected Individual throttle bodies....
as for the original questions. the H motor has always been overlooked. i hear,"its heavy" "it doesnt make power???" never understood that one..
Steph ran great with H22
Jeremy L ran good with the H22
Saul Ran 10's in a street car with H22
etc....
H2B swaps run very well.
very overlooked motor. with tons of potential....
h series for life here
my latest project is a stock bottom end h22 w/ pro1 cams which has gone 11.71 @ 114 in street allmotor @ 2100 lbs.
i would say the h series is just as good or better than a k series stock vs stock.
i believe way more people run b series because of all the previous support available for them, and now most are running ks because of the obvious potential. there was never much aftermarket support for the h when compared to the b and the h swaps were more involved and more intimidating to the average do it yourselfer. there also used to be alot of "myths" concerning the h series swaps as well which detered alot of folks back in the day.

^^ and alot of people still buy into those myths. So the H gets shyed away from. I run an H in my sfwd civic. Hopefully I will develop it's potential next year as I try and see what I can do with it...
It was claimed during an era dominated by the upbringing of the B. The couple (JL and Norris) that pushed the NA limits of the H were doing it with pretty basic combinations compared to todays standards.
As Luke and a couple others are implying... take what we know coupled with todays technology and who knows where we may go. We sure want to find out though.
