Default Mugen Bushings

Ok guys, I have been doing some research and I need some information.

I was looking at upgrading all my suspension bushings to PIC and after talking with PIC I have found out that the Si front LCA's are different than the EX LCA's that I was going to use. This creates an issue that I am not sure where the answer lies.

The car is a 00 Civic DX being upgraded to an EX civic front sway bar setup. The bushings are going to be replaced but I am confused as to what bearings will work and wont work. I am going to end up with the Mugen bushings in the front but what i need to know if are the mugen bushings designed for a specific model of the civic or are they a one-size fits all type of thing.

If anyone has experiences with this issue please let me know. I am trying to make the most informed decision I can and it looks like Mugen might be the only way that I can get the stiffer bushings I am looking for.

Thanks guys,

Nick

I would go with energy's polys before going mugen. They are basicly overpriced OEM rubber.

I would abosolutely go with the ES bushings however I drive my car daily and from all the research that I have done so far, the ES bushings tend to squeak and the overall wear and tear plus hard driving tends to wear them out. My car is a daily but I am going to be getting into autox hopefully this next season.

Can anyone inform me if the Mugen bushings work for all 96-00 civics or if they are specific to a model type during that generation?

Surely someone has this information available.

See http://www.hardrace.com for a cheaper alternative to Mugen bushings.

That doesn't help the OP and his situation.

Sure it does. Read the last paragraph of the 1st post. And, don't you think you should let the OP decide if it was helpful or not?

Look I talked with PIC via email and they were extremely helpful! If he says that it doesn't help then I would go with what he says... They are the people who know the most!

Thanks for the help though.

Checked the link, having no luck navigating it to find any real information.

They do show the front lower arm bushing set but as I said above all I can find is a picture no application information or anything.

This is really getting frustrating!

According to the parts diagrams, the compliance bushing looks to be the same across all models, but the Si compliance bushing has a different part number. Both DX and EX models share the same compliance bushing. Does that help any?

2000 DX hatch:

#3 51391-S01-004 BUSH, FR. COMPLIANCE

2000 EX coupe:

#7 51391-S01-004 BUSH, FR. COMPLIANCE

2000 Si coupe:

#7 51391-S04-005 BUSH, FR. COMPLIANCE

http://www.buyhardrace.com/bushings.html

See about a 1/4 of the way down that page. Assuming that they know what they're talking about, then you have a sort of an answer.

They probably have a very good idea of what they are talking about. I think you are the one missing the point:

**Only works on 99-00 Civic Si and 96-00 Civic Type R / SiR** (other 96-00 civic model require Si front lower arms)
The car is a 00 Civic DX being upgraded to an EX civic front sway bar setup.
OP is going with EX front lower control arms. Bushings you listed will not fit the EX front lower control arm.

It's implied, but it's in suggestive of the answer he's looking for. You just need to read between the lines. It's just as good if not better as anything you've told him earlier otherwise he wouldn't be asking the question on a public forum.

Ok, number one I don't know why you are "reading" between the lines. You need to READ. I have already spoke with PIC. I know that their bushings are different. If their bushings were the same as Mugen the the people that have so helpful at PIC would have said that I just need to upgrade to the SI front control arms (i may be doing this anyway just to solve the problem).

So by reading between the lines you have missed the point. I understand that they are different that is what the problem is. The question is "Are Mugen bushings standard across the board?" (i.e., on King Motorsports website, it states for all their Mugen Hard rubber bushings 96-00 civic, no model number or anything)

This is where the confusion lies. If you could stop bickering about what gives me the answer and what doesn't and try to help find the answer I would appreciate your help.

Ok, i just spoke PIC. They gave me the impression that I am fighting an uphill battle. They know their stuff and I am going to rock out with the wonderful information they have so graciously given me.

I will be looking foward to finding some Si control arms so I can have some nice bushings!

Thanks for all your help and hit PIC up with your suspension needs.
