nice, quick question though. is the Kpro as far as Kpro goes the same? If for example, someone with an 06+ Kpro were wanting to sell, would the 00-05's be able to use the Kpro with a different harness?
I believe so, however the 100% certain answer can be found by emailing support at hondata.com
I started off with the AEM EMS and it was great. Did what it needed to do and so forth. But there were some hick-ups in the system. The main thing would be cold starts, it was quite harsh. After a lot of tuning, we still couldn't get it to start up easily. The other problem is for some odd reason; sometimes during stop and go traffic the car would just shut down. It wasn't too much of a problem as I was able to start it up immediately, but the fact that it happens on a random basis isn't easy on your mind. The software also took a bit of time to get used to.
I had absolutely no complaints about the K-Pro. I mainly went to the K-Pro due to emissions and as the K-Pro was OBDII compatible, I decided to swap to it to ride my luck to see if I could pass emissions. Well, I passed it with flying colours. No issues at all. The start up was great on the car, exactly like stock. Never had any problems with it at all. The software was also very easy to navigate through and get used to. It did everything that I needed it to do and more. You're also able to turn off certain CEL's. Another good thing about the K-Pro is the fact that all CEL's work. So if something does happen to go wrong, it'll tell you. With the AEM EMS, if something goes wrong like you have a misfire or a coilpack fails, you won't know till it's probably too late; that's not the case with the K-Pro.
For a daily driver, I would recommend the K-Pro as it will do everything you need and more, and will also give you a piece of mind. For a track only car, I would recommend the AEM EMS as there are a few things that the AEM EMS excels on when it comes to track cars.
For 00-05's I believe you use the rsx's kpro with various 06+ s2k sensors and a harness provided from Hondata. Hondata has the list of the parts you need to do the conversion on their website. It's about 400 list for the parts from Honda. Definitely worth it IMO.

I know that feeling, I drove my friend's s2k for 2 hours and I loved it! I'm just waiting for my settlement money to come in about 2 1/2 months from now. So far I just been looking around and seeing what I can find, been seeing they go for between 9k-15k at the most. Anyway, back to the topic.
Hondata does not provide the 'extra' parts. And it's nowhere near $400 for it all. If you pay that much, you're getting ripped. The extra parts should only cost about $250 tops, and $100 or so of that goes to the AP2 valve cover alone.
S2000 KPro
This is a specially adapted ECU which allows the 2000-2005 S2000 to run from a RSX ECU. The engine crank and cam sensors must be changed to equivalent 2006-2007 parts - see below.
Pricing
The S2000 KPro includes a new or user supplied RSX (PRB) ECU adapted for the S2000, and a wiring harness for the crank and cam sensors. It does not include the Honda parts - see Mechanical Modifications below. All user supplied ecu's must be PRB A01-A12 and in perfect working order. We will not use any other ecu's for the S2000.
Price Description
$1795 S2000 K-Pro in a new ECU with wiring harness and bracket.
$1395 S2000 K-Pro in a user supplied PRB ECU with wiring harness and bracket.
$450 To convert an existing K-Pro and ECU to S2000 K-Pro with wiring harness and bracket.
Features
Main features:
* Factory reliability for your S2000.
* Easy starting.
* Dash water temperature display functions normally.
* All the features of the K-Pro:
* Injector re-calibration.
* Fully mapped boost tables.
* Nitrous control.

See the K-Pro page for more information.
Mechanical modifications
The following items must be replaced before the S2000 K-Pro can be used. These parts are not supplied by Hondata and should be purchased from a Honda dealer.
*
Crank sensor 37500-PZX-003
*
Crank wheel 13622-PCX-013
*
TDC sensor 37510-PZX-003
*
TDC wheel 14112-PCX-003
*
Valve cover 12310-PCX-020
*
Drain plug washer (for PCV valve) 94109-14000
*
PCV valve 17130-PCX-003
*
IAT sensor 37880-P05-A00 (not required, but stock IAT will read about 30 degrees hotter)
The approximate cost of these parts is $300-375.
So I was off 25 dollars...
^ Get off your high horse mate. I was just stating something, not taking a dig at you. Hate to break it to you, but my knowledge on actually installing this setup on my car would know more than you reading off a website and getting a general price on the extra parts from a neutral party that's also trying to cover their *** by over quoting the price of the extra parts.
http://www.hondata.com/kpro_dual_ecu_s2000.html says the "cruise control is permanently switched off in the stock ECU." Does that mean the cruise control doesn't work? Can a S2K K-Pro owner confirm this? Also, would anyone know if a K-Pro equipped car can pass Maryland emissions/inspections (where they just plug something into the OBDII port)?
i have the AEM EMS, I hate it. This thing is making my hate my S2000. I have the same problem papa has. My car just randomly turns off but wont start up! I should have Kpro some time over the winter...
I've had both units in my car. And overall for a daily driven car, I preferred the K-Pro.
