Hot damn. Those DRZ400s look ugly from any angle.

looks like the DRZ caused the wreck by not giving the other guy any room. He was right on top of the guy and the supersport was already almost on the curbing. Not cool

I dunno. His tires didn't seem to touch the candy stripe. Maybe he panicked and grabbed too much front brake.

From the # plates, I'm guessing it was some sort of race. Rubbin' is racin'!

Eh... You can see the DRZ pull up some since he was too close to the other bike and then the other guy wrecked taking him out. He didn't touch the paint but it still pressured him real close. Not sure if that was a race. I have number plates and don't race (yet). If it was me I would've held my line and unless the guy on the outside had the line to setup the next turn he'd be punted off the track or would have to check up

Probably just a track day or race practice session. When do you see a 400 Supermoto v. a 600 SS...maybe in an open class? Looked to me like the R6 tucked the front braking too hard and ran wide into the Suzy. Sucks either way!

you can see the supersport tucking the front on the 6-7 shot in the beginning of the corner.

Of course he tucked it. The DRZ was still too close.

Fault goes to the R6 rider. In the beginning, the DRZ in ahead and the R6 tries to pass on the inside. You can see where the DRZ rider tries to react and stand it up. R6 rider has too much speed or couldn't handle his line and lowsides.

Sucks for both, especially the DRZ rider but taking out other riders or getting taken is not at all uncommon at the track.

I bet this crash will cost the R6 rider alot more than the DRZ rider.

Anyone know what's on the rear of the DRZ's pipe? The yellow thing.

Looks like some sort of exhaust-slider.

Marm is right again. They make 'em for a bunch of exhausts. This pic is a half-circumference example to show how it attaches.

Or you could just get a hose and wrap it around your exhaust

Typical off-line brake-zone dive-bomb track-day move? If so hope the drz didn't get to dinged up.

But these hoses are apparently advanced and performance, duh

The other exhaust sliders I've seen are a harder (Delrin?) plastic. Most type of flexible hose would melt/burn up of they dragged across the tarmac at all.

Well, that was an optimistic attempt...

still, what gets on my nerves is when people don't know when to back off at a track day. If i'm faster than you and i show you a wheel, there's no reason to pinch down on my line holmes.

on the flip side, if you're faster than me, i'll let you through--because no one is paying me to finish ahead of you.

This was at Pacific Raceway in Kent, WA. The guy on the DRZ and the guy taking the pictures are big contributors on a local motorcycle forum.

From what I heard from the two of them is that the sportbike ran into the corner WAY hot and could not hang onto it.

Thats what I was guessing. Looking at it, I was thinking it would be much easier to see what actually happened if the gif started two or three frames earlier.

esp. when the passing rider (in this case the R6) couldn't wait until after the turn to pass on the straight. Not like that DRZ would give much of a fight in a straight line to that R6. Patience goes a long way.

That's too much to expect of Level One / C riders. They're already scared shitless that there aren't any DY to cross over.
