When the car is up to operating temp, the hoses will be under pressure. I believe the cap is rated for somewhere between 12-15 lbs. The system should have that much in it. The hoses will feel hard. It should be fine. If you are not confident with the work you did, you should take it to a shop to have it pressure tested.

Make sure the hose clamps are tight. Can't remember if it's possible to install the t-stat backwards, but that could cause problems.

If you had coolant spewing out the lower radiator hose, you should be checking that hose connection. You never mention replacing the lower hose, only the thermostat (which is at one end of the lower hose). So, check the connection on the lower hose, replace the hose and/or clamp if necessary. Then bleed the system of any air; either use the bleed bolt or leave radiator cap off, turn heater to max and run the car till it heats up, you might have the rev the engine too, to get most of the air out of the system (sometimes takes 15 -25 minutes) and keep radiator full of coolant while doing this.

If the lower hose seem okay, then check the clamp. (Was there any nicks, etc. on the thermostat housing when you reattached the clamp?) Coolant should not have spewed out.

Probably the reason for no or low response is due to the Thanksgiving weekend. But, people are willing to help. I do understanding worrying about your car though.

problem :
spewing out of bottom hose by the connection to the thermostat

It is hard to diagnose something without seeing and feeling the condition of the hoses, etc. you are referring to. But, if it was me, I would now replace the lower radiator hose and possibly use new clamps, then bleed the system, and see how it is after that.

Have you done everything suggested? Let it run and get up to operating temp till the fans come on. If you have got no leaks then and the temp gauge is steady in the middle. You should be good to go.

holy crap! there is no reason to bump a thread that many times is such a short amount of time in a forum like this that doesnt move that fast. If your thread is still on the first page do not bump it.

also, I've removed all the "bump" posts....
