price on semi rebuild for b18b
My brother recently had to have his B18B rebuilt by the dealership because of seized piston rings and major blow-by. The dealership charged him 1,750.00 to put in new pistons and rods, as well as boring out the cylinders and cleaning any dirty parts. This seemed like one hell of a deal to me.
my machinse shop work from labor only was about 700...this included boring the walls .25 over and honing, putting the new rods o the new pistons, micropolish the crank and balance and assemble everything, but remember the 700 dollars didnt include parts

pistons JE..$500...$300 for crower rods, replace rod bearings, also..might want to have the crank rebalanced...and replace the bearings, and get new rings...$200
you have to get the machine shop to bore the block so the pistons will fit in..have the shop forge the rods and pistons together...$100 for boring...to install about another $300-$400

Are these prices when you take your entire car to the shop, and they pull/machine the block, replace all bearings, gaskets, etc, install the new pistons/rods, and reassemble? A local machine shop quoted $100 labor to bore out the block to fit larger pistons, but $1500 for the entire job. The $350 you said for disassemmbly and reassembly of your block, did you already pull your engine out of your car? Or did they do everything for you?
Its ~800(more or less, depending on the shop) around Seattle to pull your engine and take it to a machine shop for work and then to install it back in your ride, and you pay the machine shop seperately...
pull your own engine, its so damn easy.
Her eis waht i did.
Took out engine, took off head / block.
handed them head, handed them block. Had htem bore over 25. Had them vat hte block. had them disassemble / reassemble... then give it back.
It was like 400$ total on the block, including bore / hone / dis/re assembly.
