Default Handling Characteristics for Hybrid CRX

Sup guys.....

Tried searching, but unable to find anything, so please help a noob. Friend is leaving the country, and he has a stock '91 CRX he's gonna give to me for less than $500. The body is in really good condition, but the interior and motor are crap.

My questions are...

1.) If I drop a B18 into a '91 CRX, how will it affect the handling of the car? If I do purchase it, I will be using it more for track. Not drag strip, but the local racetrack.

2.) Is it a pretty easy install?

Thanks!

a friendd of mine has a 91 si with a b-16 in it....not much weight difference than a b18b....and it handles great...he has springs on it...which helps...but aftermarket struts will only add to it....it is a very simple bolt in process....with the right parts...

not much handing difference from a d to b series in crx. you might feel its a lil stiffer in the front when you turn but once you get used to it, you wont even notice it. you might understeer becuz its heavier in the front. get lsd and youre good to go

It's much heavier. The nose is noticeably lower in my car. I can only get into one side of my garage now; I could get into both before

Handling isn't horrible but it definitely pushes more. You can tune around that though, or change things - like a C/F hood and a Z10 crossmember to leave you lighter than before up front, cancelling out the problem.

yea my car likes to plow into the corners...too much understeer...this might however be due to stock suspension that has 200K miles on it and the lack of a rear sway bar...im optimistic about the handling as soon as i spend some cash for some toys ...

You have the option of upgrading your suspension, (true coilover or ground controls and koni yellows, front and rear sway bars etc. etc.) I have the latter said, and suspension tech. sway bar in the rear and no swaay in the front(more oversteer)also the g/c combo allows you to select from different spring rates to suit your different needs.
