Default Little switch by the footrest, next to the clutch??????

I have a quick question for you guys. I have a car alarm that is going haywire on my Teggy, and I was looking at the fuse box under the driver's side dash. Under the dash, and the fuse box, in the plastic on the floor right by the footrest next to the clutch, there is a little switch, that when I found it was in the "down" position. Out of curiosity, I flipped the switch up, maybe thinking that it had something to do with the alarm, but there was no difference in anything. (Although I did not crank up the car with the switch in the "on" position. My question is, what the hell is that little switch for?? Does anyone else have this. I'm at work right now, but I'll try later to access a scanner and scan some pics of it. Thanks.

It's the switch for the VTEC.... dont hit it while your at idle, you must be at WOT or you will snap some rods in half or melt a piston....

haha, thats the switch so when i steal your car, i can turn off your alarm. hehe j/k no all that does is switch the alarm from normal mode to vallet mode, Vallet mode allows the car to be locked and unlocked without actually arming the alarm.

OK, that makes sense. My car, right now with the switch down, will automatically arm after thirty seconds of all the doors being shut. So, if I flip that switch up, that annoying feature should go away??

thats just passive/auto arming.. if thats all its doing.. I don't think its malfunctioning.. its feature I use..so that I put less wear on my remote cuz I dont have to press the ARM button to turn it on (its actually cuz I'm lazy..also helps keep ur car protected/alarm ON..in case U forget to turn it on).. to me I like auto-arming cuz even if I forget to turn it on.. it ARMs the alarm in 30 seconds after the doors are closed.. so even if i forget..my car is protected...

its supposed to be a convenience/safety feature... I like that feature.. I guess you dont.. you should be able to program it to turn OFF the auto arm feature...

if thats all its doing looks like ur alarm is working fine.. contact the manufacturer, look in your manual or go to a car alarm shop and ask them to program auto arming OFF..

the valet switch is for turning off the alarm (it will just act as a keyless entry ), or if u lose ur remote.. to turn it off w/o the remote (also can be used by thieves to turn off ur alarm..thas y a valet switch (non coded ones) are suppose to be hidden...which explains my above post.. it is also used for programming (turning on/off some features) when u enter valet/program mode...

find out how to turn off auto/passive arming since it seems u dont like that feature.. most ppl I know use and have auto arming activated.. cuz that way you never have ur car unprotected (in case u forget to arm the alarm).. it arms, locks the doors, good to me.. just remember to take ur keys.. so they dont get locked inside..

or if ur a AAA auto club member like me.. just bring ur membership..and walk into the AAA office..they will make u a credit card key for free...i keep it in my wallet..if i lose my keys or they get locked inside my car.. its saved me a few times.. but im careful to take my keys so I like auto arming..

What kind of alarm do you have? I have no freakin' idea what kind of alarm mine is. The one and only remote that I have says "Prime" on it. It is black with 2 green buttons on it. The left arms and disarms, and the right I have no clue what it does. When the car arms, it makes 2 chirps, and when it disarms, it makes one. Thanks for your help by the way.

when in valet mode.. most alarms LED's shine constant RED (on)... when in normal/alarm mode (when its armed/on) the LED blinks... when the alarm is OFF (not armed, not in valet..) the LED will be OFF... thats how most alarms work...

if u wanna put your alarm in VALET and not have use of your alarm (only as a keyless entry) then put the key into the ignition turn it to ON.. then flick ur valet switch..your LED should turn RED and stay lit (all the time)..now your alarm serves no purpose except as a keyless entry when u press the arm and disarm button.. it locks or unlocks your doors.. no protection for your car.. but if thats what u want.. then yeah..

strange, my alarm will ONLY change its passive door locking habits if

1) The alarm is in Valet ....set by a SWITCH (which i think that switch is...)

or

2) If its programmed to have the feature disabled by a series of on off switch and ignition sequences using the valet switch.

If that's your valet switch, its basically enabling and disabling your alarm. To disable alarm, you usually put key in ignition, flip to on within 10 seconds and get key out.

Do the same thing as above, but flick to off to disable alarm..

I'd get it checked out.
