Valve Adjustment
Well ive done plenty of valve adjustments on vtec motors and have not had a problem. This morning i was doing a valve adjustment on my 95 lx nonvtec and it seems that the adjustment is very finicy. An extremely small movement of the adjustment screw would made it too loose or too tight. Is this normal ?
Are you leaving the feeler guage under the rocker arm while tightening, are you letting the screw portion turn when tightening the nut portion with the wrench. We are talking thousands of an inch here. Are you adjusting while the engine is hot or cold.
Yes. It's not easy. You need three hands, one for the feeler gage, one for the adjusting screw, and one for the locking nut. Since most of us mortals only have two hands, it presents a problem. Good luck with that.
there's a special tool you can purchase, wich acts as a 10mm socket with a handle and a flat heat screwdriver, pretty convenient once you get used to it. About 20$ Search for "honda valve adjustment tool" or something like that.
And yes, it's pretty normal. I spend alot of time swearing when i do mine...
