Default Civic Tranny Swap

I got a 1990 Civic, with the base 1.5 and 4 speed tranny. As we all know a 4 speed sucks... So I want to put a 5 speed in, from a 1991 or so. Well I don;t have no manual, so I am kindly asking you guys, if you can tell me, step by step what I need to do to disassemble so I can take the engien and tranny out. See my car has a body kit and stuff on it and I can't dirve it in winter, to much a risk of hurting it, so I want to work on it. Well when I traded fro the car, I got a set of rims, and I am trading the rims for the tranny and some other things. But I want 5 speeds, much better. But my car has a CRX interiot swap (it's a civic dx hatch) and the odd thign is that the civic back seats and stuff match the CRX interior, but I am asking for your guys help, ad in return I am going to photograph it, and make a tutorial for others. Oh and is there anything I have to do to swap the trany? I don't think so but IDK. So talk to you all later and thanks in advacne.

not to be a dick but u should invest in a 88-91 honda civic helms manual. it would be alot eaiser than us to write it im sure it has already been done. u can even get a manual offline for free here. http://www.spoonhonda.com/Free_Downl...uals_s/119.htm

find the right one for ur exact car and there u go bud. hope that makes things alot eaiser. and goodluck with the tutorial for all of us. keep us all updated on the work we rather hear about it than how to take it apart.

Hey thanks, my big problem, is I don't know which one to choose, right now (9:08 AM EST) I am downloading the 'Civic 1990-1991 ED3, ED4, ED6, ED7 HELMS USDM wiring info only' cause it's the only one that is for my car (My car is a 1990 Civic Hatch Back) But would a CRX manual work? I mean I assume it would, cause there pretty much the same car. Just a FYI now, I know nothin about Honda's, I grew up around Fords. But thank you I am going to download a few manuals, maybe helpful inthe long run. But which one should I get so I can take the tranny out? Thanks a million for the link. ANd I plan on taking a ton of pics... Some serious... some silly =D

lol no problem man were here to help u out. but anything from the ed, the ed is the body stlye from the usdm 88-91s if u see in the vin it will say ed, even tho i own an ed i call it an ef because of it being my favorite jdm car. so any of those will work. look on ur vin for the number after ed it sould be one of those. and yes about the crx for some things and not for some things just because there the same body style there still r some differences from the change. but yes hope to help u out as much as possible and let see some pics. goodluck man. by the time u decide to decline honda tech, u will realize how much u have actually learned.
