Default having some sppedo meter and accelerator problem with my Honda Accord 92

I am having some problem in my car’s speedo meter. I noticed that even when I accelerate my car the meter is not giving me correct reading.

Also another problem is I feel that accelerator of my car needs to be pressed more to get to a certain speed than normal.

Any clues/suggestions regarding the cause of this problem and rectify it.

Has there been any changes or repairs performed lately?
Does the car still roll easily?
Have any of the warning lamps come on?
Does the speedo read low? / High?
We need a little more to go on.

Hi p_adams:
Thanks for responding to my thread. below are the responses to all of your queries:
I recently got my alternator and thermostat replaced.

I feel like there is some friction when I press the accelerator and it is not gaining speed as compared to the amount of gas I am putting in while pressing the accelerator.

no warning lamps

I think it is reading high than the actual speed as when it is showing 100 I do not think I was going at 100.

Those repairs would have no effect on what you're asking about.

I would suggest several things:
Have the throttle body cleaned and checked (along with the throttle cable) to make sure nothing is binding.

Grab a friend, plop him/her in the passanger seat with a stop watch and a pair of eyes and find a local highway with mile markers. Two things:
With your speedo indicating 60mph, you should traverse 1 mile in 1 minute.
AND your odometer should ratchet off exactly 1 mile for the one mile you travel.

Both the speedo and the odometer utilize the same signal from the VSS sensor. If the odometer agrees with the distance traveled but the speedo doesn't, then the cluster's ng.

Let me know what you find

I have Honda Accord 1992. I went to Walmart today to buy some power steering oil but most of them had marked on it that they are only good for North American cars and some had specified that they are not good for Honda.

So I have two queries:

· What is the worse which can happen if I do not fill power steering fluid now as mine is lower than the min level now?
· Which type and made of oil should I use for my Honda accord 92?

Please let me know.

Thanks
Ahmar

- the worst that can happen in the power steering fluid not meant for hondas will break down the seals on the power steering system and it will leak and could damage the rack seals- not good

- it can be found at any major auto parts store(napa, pepboys, autozone, advanced auto, etc)

as for oil the owners manual should state what it takes...but i think its something like 5w 30(not 100% sure)
and as for make it is based on preference but im sure others will chime in with their favorite oils as alot of ppl use alot of different oils
