Default 95 ex engine into 97 ex

engine is gone most likely. its being checked to see if its under warranty for fix.

but in case it can't be.

are there any differences in wiring really if i threw a low mileage 95 ex engine into my 97 ex? or would it basically be plug and play?

also the car is an auto. can anybody list specific parts that i'll have to/should replace while swapping the other in?

any help is very much appreciated

yes you can install it as long as you install the OBD-2 parts as required from the original engine

Redline870 should be able to help you out step by step. He just did a similar swap. JDM F22B(2) OBD1 block into an OBD2 chassis. Pretty much the exact same thing....except you have VTEC (F22B1). VTEC should be plug and play between the two anyway.

Hit up redline870 and see what he swapped over from his OBD2 engine.

You should see the wires coming out from behind the plastic cover if it's OBD2.

This will ultimately be your decision maker on weather to convert your F22B2 wire harness to an external coil with an OBD1 dist. or take the oil pump from your OBD2 block and swap it with your OBD1 oil pump. Then you can run with the OBD2 dist. and external coil setup.

so that will be the basic thing to convert on that engine you think? if so i wouldnt mind at all since i'd most likely be replacing it with a new one anyways. would like to have the piece of mind of having new oil pump, water pump, timing belt, etc. dont mind spending that extra money considering the engine is only gonna cost me $300 shipped to my house with a warranty and all :D
