So after I got the fuel to stop leaking from the injectors... I noticed the timing belt was too loose for my liking. So I tried tightening it up but it didn't seem to tighten it up (it was a tight squeeze so I didn't have much room to maneuver, probably need to keep doing it). After it ran for a while, a light smoke started coming around the exhaust manifold area? I am completely baffled what this could be. It smells like burning plastic/rubber... I didn't really have time to let it run longer to see if it was subside but obviously it concerns me. This is the first time I've done engine work and I wasn't very confident. I did have someone who was experienced to help, I had the head decked, I had a torque wrench, and a Haynes manual, so I'm hoping all will be well.

I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced this or has any advice for the tensioner.

when i did mine i had had my dirty *** hand all over the header and when i started my car it was burning on the excess oils/grease/dirt form my hands

 

it will smoke as all the gasket materials and the grease from your dirty *** hand burns off....this is completley normal!!!!

 

Ty Wrenchez, that's what I figured. I'm just not comfortably with working on my engine. It makes me nervous, lol. A family mechanic is going to take a look at it and make sure everything looks good.
