Default Raleigh to CMP - preferred routes?

Still working out my options for coming by this weekend...

What's the route for you local folk to head down to CMP? Charlotte, then turn south? Or are there any sneakier ways to get there?

Take 1 S to The Rock. Just before the track go straight (there is a stop
sign for this) towards Hamlet. Its route 177. It "Ts" into 9 just outside of
Cheraw. Just follow the on ramp and it will take you towards Cheraw.

At Cheraw after crossing the long bridge look for the truck route around
town. At the end of the truck route turn left back onto hwy 1.

Follow 1 south past McBee. At Bethune turn right onto 141. Not marked in
that direction but you will see the signs just around the corner. Forget
which gas station is on the corner but I think this intersection is the next
light after McBee.

In about 20 minutes or so will be in Kershaw. I am guessing you know where
the track is from there.
This is a little less than 3 hours from my house near SAS in Cary. I don't know if a faster way to get there.

r2x ~ who thanks Captain Ron for these!

"File --> Print..."

Thanks, all. Will probably be heading down from CLT, but might be going straight to RDU on the way back.

The track is south of downtown by about 5 minutes.

There is no stop sign on US 1 for this, so don't look for it. Pretty much, you're going down US1 and when you see the Rock, you'll see the sign for 177. This is an excellnt way to go since it misses Rockingham and all the associated stoplights.

Last trip, Karl and I also took the truck route through Cheraw, SC. Far fewer stoplights. Just follow signs for US1 truck route.

Took less than 3 hours to get there, and we were towing.

The truck route thing rules. Don't miss the burned-out, full of trash school bus on the left hand side of truck 1 in Cheraw, it's beautiful.
