Icon2 205/55/15 fit stock 15 inch alloys?

Hello good honda-tech friends, I have a 2005 LX SE sedan, 100% stock and need a new set of shoes.

I've got the stock 15" alloys with original bridgestone potenza trash most hondas come with.

My question: will 205/55/15's fit on the stock wheels in place of the 195/60/15's?? My concern is that the stock wheels have more offset than aftermarket wheels and I don't want the tires to rub. I was wondering if anyone had experience upgrading to this size tire for our cars.

ALSO, anyone have any pics of a setup like this? Any comments on this upgrade?

Thanks!
Philip

They will fit but get 205-60-15 instead of the 55 profile. You shouldn't have any problems with rubbing.

I'm pretty sure 205-60-15 are more tall than 205-55-15 are short... i.e. the closest to the original diameter is the 205-55-15... someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

195/60/15 sounds big for stock. i think my ex comes with 185/70/15 and a 205/60/15 is the closest to stock for me. you might want to check what size tire your car is really supposed to have though.

here is a tire size calculator though.

195/60/15 = 195 mm *.6 = 117 mm tall sidewall
205/55/15 = 205 mm *.55 = 112.7 mm tall sidewall
205/60/15 = 205 mm * .6 = 123 mm tall sidewall

your indicated speed will be more realistic with the 55 profile tires.

and yes, generally 6" wide wheels will accept 195 or 205 width tires with no real problems

OK ok. I have P195/60R15 on my 2004 civic ex. I did put P205/55R15 on there. They are the same dimensions ie width to height ratio so they will not rub. I have been rocking this setup for a few months and no problems with them. They do stick out a 1/4 of an inch almost like a protector for your rim. I will take a picture when I can. Def will work, go for it.

2004-2005 Fat Fives had the P195/60R15 while the 2001-2003 Si style wheel have P185/65R15. Different wheels different sizes.

Please post pics! Your reply is very helpful... Which tires did you use? I'm thinking of putting on the Yokohama Avid V4's

Thanks!

just fyi since there always seem to be a lot of confusion as to what tire size was stock...

in canada (and probably same goes for the USA), sedans and 2dr coupes came in 3 possible tire configurations...

185-70-14
185-65-15
195-60-15

all 3 sizes have circumferences which are within 1% of each other...i bet all honda speedos have the same calibration

please post pics!!

i've have fat fives and i've always wondered how 205/55/15 tires would look like on the car w/ those rims...

thanks

btw, have you checked your speedo to see how much it's off by? 205/55/15 tires would in theory throw the speedo off by a tad bit. a good way to check the calibration is by driving at a constant speed then comparing the speedo w/ a gps calculated speed.

Thanks Daddy for the info I thought all 01-03 EX's have the Si's. Well my speedo is not off by much, if at all I think. I have Dunlop Dizerra's on there with bone stock suspension and my car handles soo much better just with sticky tires alone. I cannot wait to get full coilovers but college expenses come first unfortunately. Pictures will be up in a few minutes.

it would be great if you can get some pics of the car taken from a distance...just curious how the wider tires look like...

185/65/15 looks too much like a round donut, 195/60/15 is a tiny bit better, i have a feeling 205/55/15 on stock fat fives would look good
