Default Can someone please throw up a pic. of the IAC valve location

I think I know where it is, but I am not positive. I am trying to adjust/troubleshoot my idle problem, and I want to see if I have a defective IAC valve.

Thanks

It is on the back of the Intake Manifold. If you follow the coolant lines from the trottle body.....next stop IACV. It is held on by two bolts. Careful, they have a figure 8 o-ring that you DONT WANT TO LOOSE.

This picture is much appreciated! As for the IAC valve, I don't know if I should even attempt to mess with this. I would hate to screw it up, seeing how they are about 100-150 to replace.

Can the IAC valve become clogged and cause rough idleing? If so, how do I go about cleaning this piece?

Thanks again.

Just take the two bolts out and at least one of the coolant lines. You may have to take both off to get it to turn. Then, just hit it with some throttle body cleaner.

Everyone keeps telling me to clean it with TB cleaner. I am assuming that TB cleaner comes in a spray form? So I should just completely remove the IAC valve and just squirt some TB cleaner inside. Am I correct?

Keep the suggestions coming! Thanks.

Does that IAC valve just bolt onto the Intake manifold or does it have a probe or line or something that goes inside the manifold ?

so i can take it off and mount it on the fire wall ?

what about the following :-
(i) an Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve
(ii) Intake Air temperature (IAT) sensor
(iii) Fast Idle Valve

how are those mounted ?
do they have probe or lines or something or do they just bold on ?

Are there any other sensors/valves/lines that mount on (or to) the manifold ?

nope. It breathes into the intake manifold. if you leave it off you will have two nice dime sized holes in your manifold.

III Is the IACV. Idle air control valve/Fast Idle valve.

EGR, is only on Preludes, VX and HX's.

suppose i run indivisual throttle bodies (ITBs) what do i do with the IAC valve ?

don't B16A and B18C1 have the EGR ? i read some where they do . are you sure only preludes , VX and HX have them ?

what about the Intake Air Temp. sensor ? with ITBs do i plug this into the manifold ?

If you run ITB's then you don't need the IACV....you just run without them.......Now, keep in mind you don't want to use A/C or pretty much anything that puts a load on the engine.

I am so tired of the on and off of my A/C without the IACV to compensate....revs fricken jump 1000 RPMS when the damn thing shuts off.

No NONE of the B series engines have EGR valves. I am 100% sure that only the VX, HX and H22 have EGR's. YOu can go into the Hybrid section and get flamed if you want to ask.

I am unsure about the IAT sensor.

let's see if i got this clear , once i run without the IAC the only problem i would have is with my AC being switched on and off ?

without it would the car idle ?
without it would the AC still work ?

I think what he's saying is that without it the idle will be eradic when you have the A/C on... from my understanding, the IAC helps regulate surges in idle when there's load on the engine (IE, your A/C compressor turns on, the IAC opens up to allow the car to breathe more so it can idle normally with more load on it).

Don't quote me, infact, don't take anything I say as the truth, but I think this is how it works. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

IAC stands for Intake Air Control. don't think A/C is being affected by this. it does affect cold idle, however.

So without the car can run , but just not well .

so what do the guy that are running indivisual throttle bodies do ?
because i was lookin into gettin some ITBs so i am trying to gather as much info as possible .

And from what i gather when i drop on the ITBs and i switch on my A/C my car will idle about 300-600 RPM . to allow it to idle ok i would have to apply about 5% throttle to bring up the revs to about 800-1000 or so . Also , when i turn on the car in the morning it will idle fu*ked up until coolant has reached operating temp .

So what am i to do ?
is there anyway i can counter act this idling problem when i install the ITBs ?
