Default 205"50"15's problems

My car is 1999 civic EX

I had already changed my ring and tires became 205"50"15

Because I am looking for springs and shocks

I wanna make lower(probebly front 1.75 lower, rear 1.5 lower)

I have a big question now

caz my tires' width are a little over to body

if i change it lower

Does it hit my body?

Does anybody have 205"50"15 99civic and the body is lower than original?

Could u tell me the experience please?

thanks a lot

this is my car

although i drive a 95 civic, should be the same. i'm lowered 1.75f/1.5r with 205/50/25's and i have no issues of rubbing, etc. just leave the camber as is, and you should be fine.

get 195/50/15s or roll your fenders.

it kinda depends on the offset of the rim. i roll 205/40/17 on my '98 4dr ex with 100lbs of stereo in the back (lowers the back end ~.5") then i sometimes roll with 3 people in the back seat without any problem. thats all i can tell you.

I have a 97 hatch with a 99 si front conversion. Also rolling in 205/50/15 with the fenders rolled! and it still rubs when I try and adjust the camber kit.. cars dropped and I cant adjust my front camberkit to 0 degress because it will scrape.. right now the camber is on like -2.1 or something.. but thats what happens with bigger tires.. it sucks.. I think ima go 205/40/15 next time

offset is important as well as the amount the car is lowered. can it fit, I imagine it can...but it depends on a variety of factors. I'm lowered a good 3" on 205/40/17 w/ +40 offset and can't turn full-lock w/o rubbin like crazy.

For the person thinking of going from 205/50/15 to 205/40/15...you'd be better off going to 195 and either staying w/ 50 or maybe 45 for the sidewall. 40mm sidewalls suck - I know from experience...

Offset is the ONLY thing that will cause your tire size to not work.

but 50 looks ugly *** hell.. the side walls are far much bigger and it makes my 15 inch rims look 17 or something.. I used to have 205/40/16 and it was great!

All I'm sayin is if you're rubbin like crazy now and want to fix it without your ride going to **** you're better off going to a 195/45 than a 205/40...just my opinion though

im getting 205/40/16 on my c8s that have an offset of 40 or 38, forgot. Siting on stock suspension right now. I shouldnt rub right? some calculator said i would so iuno. Btw the tires were brand new and my cousin gave them to me for free if i bought the 16s to go with them. Beggers cant be choosers.

Let me look for the tire size calculator...or you can probably find it in the Tire/Suspension thread. When I was on stock suspension w/ 205/40/17s I didn't rub w/ a +40 offset so I wouldn't think it would be a problem...

What the offset on your rims? That will be the only thing that could even come close to making your tire rub with a 1.5 inch drop. I'm currently on skunk2 lowering springs (2.5 inch drop) with 205/50/15's on +42 wheels and have no rubbing what so ever, without rolling my fenders or adding any camber. Offset is so often overlooked, but offset is everything.

i had a 98 coupe with 215-50 15 and had no problems turning, it all depends on the offset of the wheel. however my car was so low that every bump slammed the frame rail on the tire

i run 225/45/15 on a 15x8 +35 offset and no rubbing lock to lock. tire sits right at the fender and flush. no rolled fenders and still has the factory fender liner.

the best set is CTR spec 195-55-15 on 6.5 +40mm off set max if you want to drop it low!

Shouldn't be a problem. Just adjust the camber if needed.

I wouldn't really call that "low," yeah it's dropped but it's not anything crazy. Those are tight rims though :D
