You might be able to do it for under $2K if you do all the labor. B-series mount kits can be found for pretty decent prices, and if you search around I'm sure you can find axles and an intermediate shaft for about $100 ~ $150. The tranny is gonna be your next biggest cost factor. Don't forget you will also need an ecu and you will need to do some wiring as well. Other things you might want to consider is replacing wear and tear parts like the timing belt, water pump, thermostat, hoses, plus you'll need fluids and such. If I were you, I'd try and save a bit more just in case.

i would consider my engine swap a pretty damn money conscious one, and it cost me a little under $1,500 to do the swap. thats with me paying $320 for the engine and pulling it from my friends car myself. all other labor was also done by me, myself, and i lol. it depends on what trans you want to use, and how cheap you can get said trans for. because as was already mentioned its like 2nd most expensive thing you're going to have to buy to complete your swap. I also chose to convert to obd1 to run my b18b1, but i certainly didn't have to. You could choose to stay obd0 and run the b20b with an obd0 ls b18a1 ecu. saves you money on the more expensive ecu, and ecu jumper harness. Try to save money any way you can but also try not to cut corners where it counts. As long as you're doing the labor yourself i think $2,000 should be just about enough to pull it off.

it comes down to the little things cause believe me they add up. if you choose to go with ebay mounts over something like hasport you save a lot of money there. if you stay obd0 you will save money there. if you can get a good deal on a trans or settle for an ls trans instead of a gsr which maybe thats what you're lookin for then you can save money there too. You don't have to get a b20b though. they're the cheapest engines hmotors offers for a reason. So going with even a b18a1 isn't exactly a downgrade. If you could find one locally and pick it up then you would be saving a bunch of money on shipping. i've seen ls longblocks in good running condition on craigslist for $100-200.

the main thing is labor. if you have to pay someone, other then a friend, to do the swap for you, they are most likely going to charge you a *hit ton. You shouldn't attempt somethin like this if you think its way over your head. But like anything else you're not going to learn unless you try. If you have atleast half-way decent mechanical prowess with the ability to turn a wrench you could probably pull it off. do lots of research before you start because you don't want to find yourself half way into a swap and then not know what to do.
