Taking off a D16Y7 oil pressure sensor
Is there any easy way of getting access to the oil press. sensor on the back of the D16 block? I had a look at one yesterday, and there seems to be something covering it up. Anyone take one off before?
Mine was a bitch to get off, we pulled the wires out of the ruber boot but they went right back it so it's cool. Sometimes you really have to yank on it to get it off.
the boot on my z6 was a bitch to get off. probably took me longer to get that thing off than it did to get the sensor off

on the d16y7 the manifold is inverted which makes the sensor hard to get to. I did it when I changing my oil so the oil filter wasnt in the way. Only other way I can think of would be to take the entire intake manifold off.
Manifold is inverted? It just sticks off the back, it doesn't slope down or anything. The D16Y8 goes down then up, but either way it's not hard to do.
You just have to be a man and pry the boot off with your fingers..

is it necessary to hook the factory sensor back up on D16Y8 motor. would vtec not engage b/c the computer would sense no oil pressure, or is vtec a mechanical thing?
