Cam shaft snaped in 3 places!
This happened yesterday at the track shifting from 3rd to 4th at about 8200rpm. This is the exhaust cam. The intake cam is perfectly fine. How the heck does this happen? I've never seen a cam snap in half. Is the cam just made out of sh*ty material? I'd throw out the maker but don't want to bash if it's something I could have prevented. Well known maker btw.

I've done that before, but that was like 5 years ago. I was using Web Cams back then when that happen. I don't remember what happen to mine excatly, but I'll ask my guy's if they do.
Who's cams are those?

I had a set of skunk2 pro 3 series and both exhaust and Intake snapped on my in my race car. I went from 2 to 3 gear @ 9000rpm. Next thing I know, I heard a load bang against my floor board and lost of rpm.....came back to the pit and notice oil every where. No one has a clue on what could cause the cames to break....I guess is worn down material will weaken the cam shaft. Strange.....800.00 down the line and cost me a to get new valve train and new pistons......
Dunno if it was a miss shift cause I wasn't driving. Driver says they didn't. I disconnected the battery so I lost the logs to check. Anyway, just did some looking around and found that the loss motion sensors could have been bottoming out. These are old cams, like 6 years old, and sgnlab guessed the maker. But we've been using them for years. Same maker and age of springs and retainers. A lot has changed since we purchased this setup. Time to revamp it I guess.

Every moving part has a chance to break from age at some point in its life. It happens, and doesnt mean that its a bad product. Its lasted 6+ years? Now if it was brand new and did it, I may question the product.
i also think that it was much more common with their vtec cams, again from at least a few years ago. i dont think if ive ever heard of that happening with a nonvtec cam....
i think it could happen to any cam..i broke an oem gsr exhaust cam a few years ago, in one spot just like what happened to you
