What Class would I be in auto cross...?
No, the cams and cam gears bump you into Street Mod. Get ride of them and you can run STX with street tires, or CSP with R compounds.

So what if I didnt get the cams, but kept the cam gears (since they are currently on the car)? I am assuming I would still be in Street Mod?
to be 100% legal, yes, you would be in street mod, however, on the local level, and expeically if you are new you could run STX and no one would really get too bent about it. If you start winning though, rightfully, you should change back to the stock cam gears.
Thanks for your help...one last one...no cams, no cam gears, what if I had an ATS Final Drive. What then...cause there would be no engine mods. Again thanks Crosser.
STS/STX allows no internal engine mods or tranny mods except in short shifters. STX if I remember right allows clutches. But don't quote me on that one.

take a look here http://www.moutons.org/sccasolo/
It does not have STX, but you can just assume anything you can do for STS you can do for STX.

Seats still need to recline in STX AFAIK.

Nope, you can have a non-reclinable seat in STX, but the construction of the seat must not be Kevlar (the lightweight stuffs). Therefore, it cannot serve as a purpose of reducing weight.

I never understood the STX seat rule. I asked at the beginning of this year if non-reclinable seats were allowed and I got a big no on that one. Specifically, this one:

here's the rule:
Alternate driver and front passenger seats are allowed, but they cannot be constructed of a solid outer shell and must have a suspended bottom cushion and be fully upholstered.
Solid outer shell is what throws me.

But now that I'm reading the rule again, I don't think this seat is legal either 'cuz of the "suspended bottom cushion".
I'm hoping that SCCA will allow full racing bucket seats in STS/STX class 'cuz then I could get the seat I want.
The Sparco and Sprint style seats are fixed back and suspended bottoms. They are a tubular steel frame with a padded lower cushion and removable cover...Cost about $200 each and weight about 22lbs a piece...
That's the reason they are allowed, by the time you add brackets and hardware, only save about 5lbs off a stock reclinable seat. (Speaking Civic here) Del Sol seats are about the same weight each (approx 30-32lbs each)
